How does it work against tumors? Two mechanisms have been highlighted. On the one hand, this vitamin inhibits the production of new blood vessels blocking neoangiogenesis. Neoangiogenesis is one of the mechanisms that allows the tumor to develop and expand.
The cells of our organism are put into reciprocal communication through structures called "gap junctions". Vitamins D2 and D3 stimulate adherence between cells. The close contact between adjacent cells, within a tissue, will counteract the abnormal proliferation of cells, thus reducing the risk of cancer.
Foods with Vitamin D
The sun and life in the open air are the main sources of vitamin D. Of course, it is possible to take vitamin D by taking advantage of supplements or by preferring certain foods ... but do not underestimate the role of the sun and life in the open air!
Foods that contain vitamin D (already pre-formed) are fatty fish, dairy products and egg yolk. Among the fatty fish we remember herring, salmon, sardine and mackerel.
If you never eat the foods just mentioned, fear not. As stated, the best source of vitamin D is the sun.
